On behalf of GBHI Midlands I would like to take this opportunity to thank Geoff Mann for his work and dedication to gbhi over the past few years. We know that although he is no longer Chairman of the league he will still be in the background offering advice when required and for this we are grateful
I understand that Patrick Bailey will be acting chair with Yves Marc Edwards continuing to be financial director.
This is the start of a new era for GBHI with increased membership advised & planned for, new opportunities will become apparent and they will be offered to all our members.
This new era will be one of increased communication between our regions, working together to make sure all are equally and fairly represented in all areas of the sport. Dominant regions not only cause resentment but more importantly do not allow individuals, or the sport to flourish
We are very lucky to have Trish Dingwall in Scotland who with her hard work and incredible energy has revitalised roller hockey north of the border. We are looking forward to taking our younger players to Dundee in June and Trish has promised fun for all.
At this time we are not including the older age groups as we are ever mindful of the economic climate and the lack of interest shown in other recent inter region tournaments. They are planned for inclusion next season as we look to repeat the previously successful tournaments held at each regions facility.
Neil King in Flintshire has been faced with difficulties this season with the threat and then closure of the Deeside rink, a decision we are sure the local council will live to regret. There are options open to them and we know with Neils dedication to his member clubs, that he will provide the best for them.
In the Midlands we are almost at the end of what has been an excellent season and are looking forward to welcoming several new teams next season. This season we have offered our members tournaments both home and abroad and training camps with Itan Chavira. We are also set to announce a number of initiatives which we hope will continue excite our members.
All regions are informed of events and plans for the future so if you have missed the information from your committee contact us for details
There will always be a place for more than one association, It means more hockey, more opportunities and more control for members.
Enjoy your hockey
